BGMI 6X & 8X Scope Sensitivity: Long-Range Settings That Hold

โœ๏ธ By Mansoor Alam ๐Ÿ“… October 5, 2026 โฑ๏ธ 8 Min Read ๐Ÿท๏ธ BGMI / PUBG Mobile

You finally loot an AWM with an 8X. You lie down, you scope in on someone across the valley, and the crosshair will not sit still. Every tiny touch sends it sliding half a building away. So you drag the slider down, and now it moves like treacle and you cannot track anything.

This is the most common long-range complaint in BGMI, and it is not a skill problem. The high scopes behave differently enough from Red Dot and 3X that they need their own numbers โ€” and there is a detail about how those scopes work that almost nobody adjusts for.

The zoom toggle nobody accounts for

Here is the part that catches people out. Neither of these scopes is a fixed magnification:

ScopeZoom rangeFits on
6XToggles 3x โ†” 6xAlmost every rifle, including ARs
8XToggles 4x โ†” 8xSnipers and DMRs only

The 8X is the most restricted attachment in the game. It will only mount on the Kar98K, M24, AWM, SKS, Mini14, Mk14 and SLR. You cannot put one on an M416 or an AKM, which is exactly why the 6X ends up being the long-range scope most players live with โ€” it goes on nearly everything.

Now think about what the toggle does to your slider. Your 8X sensitivity value has to feel usable at 4x and at 8x, because the same number is governing both. That is a genuinely awkward job, and it is why an 8X setting that feels perfect on a static target often feels twitchy the moment you zoom out to track a moving one.

Practical consequence: tune your 8X value at the magnification you actually fight at. If you mostly take long static shots, tune at 8x. If you use the AWM for mid-range pressure and spend more time zoomed out, tune at 4x and accept a slightly slow feel at full zoom.

Why the numbers have to drop so steeply

Magnification is not a visual effect. It is a multiplier on how much of the world crosses your screen for a given amount of thumb travel.

At No Scope, dragging your thumb two centimetres might swing your view thirty degrees. At 8X, that same two centimetres is swinging the same thirty degrees through a view that is eight times narrower โ€” so on screen, the world flies past eight times faster. Your hand did not change. The scope did.

That is why the sliders are separate and why they fall away so sharply. In our base values, gyroscope at No Scope sits at 380. At 6X it is 140. At 8X it is 80. The same shape repeats on ADS and camera. Anyone telling you to use one number across all scopes has not aimed through an 8X.

Starting values for 6X and 8X

These come from the scope-on gyro profile in our calculator, which is the setup most long-range players use โ€” the phone only reads motion once you are actually scoped, so shuffling around in hip-fire does not disturb anything. Find your finger layout, then your RAM and frame rate.

The 8X always sits about 60 below the 6X. Look down any row โ€” 124 and 64, 152 and 92, 180 and 122. That gap is not arbitrary; it is the extra magnification being paid for. If you have been running the same number in both boxes, this is probably why one of them has always felt wrong.

The ceiling you will hit on a flagship

Run the 4-finger table to the bottom and something stops moving. At 12GB and 120 FPS the Gyro 6X value reads 180 โ€” and it will not go higher no matter what else you change.

That is a deliberate cap. Above roughly 180 at six times magnification, a gyroscope input stops being aim and starts being noise: the natural tremor in your hands, the vibration of the phone against your fingers, the small correction you make when you breathe. All of it gets multiplied until the crosshair never settles.

If you are on a flagship running 120 FPS with a 4-finger claw and 6X still feels slow, the fix is not a higher number. It is a slightly larger physical movement of the phone, which is a habit you build in Training Grounds rather than a setting you type in.

Twenty minutes to tune this properly

  1. Take a Mini14 or SKS with an 8X into Training Grounds. A DMR gives you repeat shots, so you learn faster than with a bolt-action.
  2. Go to the long lane and scope a static target at maximum distance. Hold the crosshair on it for five seconds without firing.
  3. Crosshair drifting off on its own? Gyro 8X is too high. Drop it by 10.
  4. Fighting to move it onto the target? Too low. Raise it by 10.
  5. Now toggle the scope down to 4x and repeat on a closer target. The same slider is doing this job too. If it feels wild here, settle between the two values.
  6. Repeat with a 6X on an AR, checking at both 3x and 6x.
  7. Change one row at a time and give it a few real matches. Long-range settings take longer to judge than close-range ones because you take fewer shots per game.

Not sure which row applies to your phone?

The SensiAI Pro Android app reads your device's RAM and frame rate on its own and builds gyro, ADS and camera values for every scope tier on that exact handset โ€” including separate 6X and 8X figures for your finger layout. It also answers aim questions in English, Hindi and Hinglish.

Questions people actually ask

Which guns can take an 8X?

Only snipers and DMRs โ€” Kar98K, M24, AWM, SKS, Mini14, Mk14 and SLR. No assault rifle will accept one, so if you want magnification on an M416 the 6X is your ceiling.

Should 6X and 8X use the same number?

No. They are separate sliders because they are doing different amounts of work. Across every row in the tables above the 8X value sits roughly 60 points below the 6X value on gyroscope.

My 8X still shakes even on low sensitivity. What else?

Check that you are prone or behind cover rather than crouched, and that you have a stock or cheek pad fitted if the gun takes one. Sensitivity controls how much your input moves the view; it cannot remove the sway the game applies to an unsupported sniper.

Is scope-on gyro better than full gyro for long range?

For most people, yes. With scope-on gyro the phone ignores your movement until you actually aim, so repositioning behind a rock does not throw your crosshair across the map. Full gyro gives finer control once you are used to it, but it needs a steadier hand and lower values.

Does frame rate change these numbers?

It does, and the tables above account for it. Gyroscope rises with frame rate while ADS and camera fall slightly โ€” the same relationship we worked through in the frame rate guide.
